… Pele, Conquerors to battle for third place
FLAMINGO and Uprising will contest the final of the Guinness/Georgetown Football Association/Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport/National Sports Commission-sponsored Futsal Inter-Club/Block tournament on Wednesday evening at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.

Flamingo secured their place in the final with a 6-5 win against Pele while Uprising recorded an 8-5 win against Fruta Conquerors.

Leon Yaw and Orin Peters both recorded doubles for Flamingo, Yaw scoring in the 16th and 21st minutes and Peters in the 14th and 23rd.

The other two goals came off the boots of Deon Allen and Quincy Browne in the 20th and 25th minutes respectively.

Scoring for Pele were Shemroy Arthur in the 12th and 28th minutes as well as Gerald Whittington, Troy Kellman and Solomon Austin in the 15th, 23rd and 26th minutes respectively.

Omalli Nassy, a former national player led Flamingo to victory with a helmet-trick, finding his target in the 27th, 28th and twice in the 29th minutes, while Daniel Favourite supported with a double in the fifth and 26th minutes.

O’Riley Small and Jermaine John netted the other two goals in the third and 30th minutes respectively.

Scoring for Fruta Conquerors were Gerald Gritten in the 9th and 19th minutes and Lester Peters, Sheldon Shepherd and Odel Williams all registered a goal each in the 29th minute.

Uprising and Flamingo will meet in the final at the same venue on Sunday evening and this match will be preceded by the third-place playoff between Pele and Fruta Conquerors as well as three exhibition matches.
