Lover charged with woman’s murder

AARON Abdul also known as Bishnauth Rampersaud, 22, has been charged with the murder of his lover, Arifa Muntazali.

The accused, of Lot 20 Chesney, Corentyne, appeared before Magistrate Chandra Sohan on Friday last, at the New Amsterdam Court in Berbice where he was remanded to prison until July 7.

He will make his next appearance at Albion Court, also on the Corentyne, to where the case has been transferred.

It is alleged that Rampersaud, between June 1 and 24, unlawfully killed the 29-year-old woman, whose partially decomposed and bound body was found in a trench aback of Chesney.

A post mortem examination performed on the corpse, by Dr. V. Brijmohan, failed to establish the cause of death, due to the advanced stage of putrefaction.

The victim had been reported missing since she left her Queenstown, Corriverton, Corentyne home on May 22 to attend a religious function.
