He received excellent support from Mukesh Singh 25 (2×4, 2×6) and Jeffrey Henry 20 (1×4, 1×6). Robert Semple one for 16 off his four overs and Dinesh Samaroo with one for 12 off one over were the men who got the wickets for BTLSC.

In the second match of the day at the same venue Devonshire Castle enhanced their reputation of being the favourites to win this competition with a huge 117-run victory of Knight Riders Sports Club (KRSC).

Led by a magnificent 121 not out from opener Basil Persaud, Devonshire Castle compiled the highest 20/20 score in the Pomeroon to date, recording 239 for 4.

Persaud’s innings was mixed with aggression and solid defence as the Knight Riders’ bowlers found it hard to contain him. His innings contained seven fours and four huge sixes. He received support from Ramesh Narine (2×4, 1×6) who benefited from two chances before he had made 20 and Anthony Persaud 32 (3×6, 2×4)).

Bowling for Knight Riders, skipper Brandon Cabose with 2 for 40 off 4 overs was the best bowler while Keron Da Silva and Dwayne Garraway took the other two wickets to fall.

In reply KRSC were in all sorts of trouble at 24 for 7 by the 7th over but Ravi Ramroop with 45 (3×4) and Wayne Perreira 26 (4×2, 1×6) put some respect in their total of 122 off 19 overs. There were also some 33 extras in their innings.

At Cavalier Sports Club ground, Upper Pomeroon River, the home team got the better of Rising Sun Sports Club by 58 runs due largely by a brilliant 118 not out from Anville Rose.

Winning the toss and electing to bat, Cavaliers complied 192 for 2 off their 20 overs as Rose and Mark Gonsalves 19 (3×4) got their team off to a flyer with Rose being the more aggressive of the two. His hundred contained 11 fours and six huge sixes as he dispatched the Rising Sun bowlers to all part of the ground. Chris Williams chipped in with 20 (3×4) towards the end. Extras tallied 26 in their innings.

Andrew D’Aguiar and Rakesh each took a wicket for Rising Sun.
