Villager charged with Morasi bride-to-be murder


A VILLAGER, Rudolph Williams, has been charged with the weekend murder of bride-to-be Naomi Singh, at Morasi, East Bank Essequibo.

The labourer appeared at Vreed-en-Hoop Court, on Wednesday, before Magistrate Fazil Azeez and was remanded to prison.

The case has been transferred to Leonora Court, also on West Coast Demerara, for June 18.

The accused, 25, is alleged to have killed the victim last Friday, at her home in the village where they both lived.

Singh’s body was discovered in a drain behind the family house in a search led by her father, Mohan Singh.

Police said a post mortem examination, performed on the corpse by Dr. V. Brijmohan, established that the cause of death as shock and haemorrhage resulting from an incised neck wound.

The prisoner on remand had been an employee on the Singhs’ farm in the riverine area.
