Eureka Lab opens branch in New Amsterdam, Berbice

EUREKA Medical Laboratory and Family Clinic opened its newest branch, that cost $25M, in New Amsterdam, Berbice, on Sunday.

It coincided with the observance of Laboratory Week and the spanking new facility is located at Lots 24-26 Princess Elizabeth Road, New Amsterdam.

The owners, Mr. Andy Boyle and his wife, Dr. Karen Boyle let their children, Andrew and Keziah cut the symbolic ribbon for the opening of the third Eureka outlet in the country.

Expressing gratitude to friends, employees and relatives, for the assistance in realising their dream, the Boyles’ recalled starting in a small office on Waterloo Street, then moved to the main branch at Thomas Street, also in Georgetown, before establishing a presence at Parika, East Bank Essequibo.

Dr. Boyle told the Berbice gathering that, even before they married, her husband wanted to have his own laboratory and they have worked together ever since, providing quality service.

Eureka was first to offer cancer screening and allergy testing in Guyana with newer technology.

Also making brief remarks at the function were Director of Technical Standards, Dr. Julian Amsterdam and Deputy Mayor of New Amsterdam, Ms. Hyacinth James. (Michel Outridge)
