Missing pilot returns alive and well

THE pilot who was reported missing earlier this month in the Chi Chi area, Upper Mazaruni has been reported as having found his way back to his mining operations camp last Wednesday.

Police in a release yesterday said that Bernard Singh, 37, of Strathspey, East Coast Demerara, made his way back to camp at about 1130 hours earlier last week, after having lost his way.

Singh had left the Ogle Airport on April 7, 2009, in a Piper 228 Aircraft for Chi Chi where he has a mining operation and had left the aircraft at the airstrip and made his way into the camp, police said.

It was reported that he left the mining camp on Friday, April 10, to return to Georgetown but had not done so until April 12 when he was reported as missing and the aircraft was still at the airstrip at Chi Chi, the statement said.

It added that Joint Services ranks were preparing to go into the area to conduct searches and investigations, when information was obtained that Singh had made his way back to his camp and was alive and well.
