Commission of Inquiry should help City Council get its act together

THE Commission of Inquiry should help the City Council to get its act together and do a better job of cleaning the city. Many things need fixing in this city, the drains, roads, lights (some places are very dark at nights) and the many animals that continue to roam the streets. I understand that the Commissioner is taking his time in order to do a good job, but in the meantime things could be getting worse. I understand that a draft copy of the report was handed in to the Minister of Local Government and that the formal presentation of the report is imminent.

I am sure that all property owners are waiting anxiously for that report. Further, I read that the government is giving the council $10M every month to do different projects in the city. I hope that the government is putting special measures to ensure that the money is spent to the benefit of citizens. Whatever they use the $10M for, it must be properly monitored and evaluated. This money is part of the other taxes we pay to the Revenue Authority. Taxpayers must know how this money is being spent.
