Assault, damage to property defendant also refused bail

LEON Europe also known as ‘Buck Man’ yesterday appeared before Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson charged with assault and damage to property.

The defendant, 27, of Lot 6 D’Urban Street, Wortmanville, Georgetown, pleaded not guilty to the charges, two of which said, on April 27, 2008, he unlawfully and maliciously assaulted Anaciene Cave and Ursula Dodson so as to cause them actual bodily harm.

Particulars of the third charge said, the same day, he unlawfully and maliciously damaged two doors, a number of window panes and a lady’s top, all valued $61,000, property of Dodson.

Police Corporal Munilall Seetaram, prosecuting, successfully objected to bail for him, stating that the defendant could not be located for more than one month.

The Prosecutor said Europe claimed to be living at Kuru Kururu, along Soesdyke-Linden Highway and not in the city.

Cave alleged that Europe went to her house, broke down one door and assaulted her brother, who lives downstairs.

She said Europe pelted her with a big brick and Dodson said the incident was traumatising to her entire family and caused her grandson not to want to go to school because he is so afraid of the defendant that the 10-year-old boy now has nightmares and imagines that Europe is in the yard when he is not.
Europe was remanded to prison through April 8.
