Please don’t fight innocent people, fight real criminals

AS a regular visitor to your beautiful country, I like to follow the news through the internet when I am back in The Netherlands. In the past years, many times I was often pleasantly surprised by reading about many positive developments. Sometimes, however, it makes me feel sad to read about innocent people suffering from crime (including reckless driving). Recently it made me feel sadder to read that innocent people are treated like criminals.

In the Guyana Chronicle Online of February 10, 2009, I read the astounding top story of Police Inspector Dennis Griffith and Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson-Ogle wasting their time by prosecuting seven homosexual men for wearing female attire. Why on earth are these officials bothering about these men who did harm to nobody? Furthermore it is astonishing to me that a judge, in a country with people of different religious beliefs, did advise these men to go to church and give their lives to Christ.

Does this Magistrate confuse doing justice to people in the court with preaching in a Christian church?
