Narcotic possession, larceny defendants all refused bail

THREE defendants, charged in different Courts with narcotic possession and simple larceny, were all refused bail yesterday.
Lester Meyers, 32 and Michelle Parks, 28, who pleaded not guilty to being in possession of 343
grammes of cannabis (marijuana) for the purpose of trafficking, were remanded to prison, until March 31, by Magistrate Hazel Octave-Hamilton.
Police Inspector Desiree Fowler, prosecuting, successfully objected to pre-trial liberty for the duo (no addresses given).
The third prisoner on remand, Ian Hunte, 27, of Lot 225 ‘D’ Field, Sophia, Greater Georgetown, appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson-Ogle on two larceny charges.
It is alleged that, on July 15, he stole a $20,000 cell phone, property of Oscar McCauley and, last October 21, stole a similar phone, valued $42,000, belonging to Morgan Chalmers.
Hunte denied the allegations and claimed the virtual complainants gave him the instruments to repair and they were stolen while he was hospitalised.
Police Inspector Denise Griffith, prosecuting, said this is the second time the defendant is being similarly prosecuted.
Hunte will remain incarcerated through January 26.
