13-yr-old schoolgirl gives birth to twins – at Suddie hospital

A 13-year-old student of Wakapoa Amerindian community in the Lower Pomeroon river has given birth to twin babies at the Suddie hospital over the weekend.Reports said the student who attends a primary school in the community was rushed to the Charity hospital but transferred to the Suddie hospital on Friday where she gave birth to twin babies.
Reports said the babies which are very small and delicate are kept in an incubator at the hospital.
The pregnancy of the young girl was brought to light after she reported to her class teacher that she felt something in her belly while at school. According to reports, the child was taken to a health center where it was revealed that she was pregnant. Reports also said the child was taken advantage of after her mother and father were sent to prison in connection with a murder investigation and she was left to take care of her smaller siblings.
The young man who allegedly impregnated the schoolgirl has disappeared from the community. Meanwhile, the young mother is still hospitalised.
